Toranomon – A Complete Travel Guide

Toranomon is a wealthy district in Tokyo's Minato ward and a great place to explore. Check out our guide for top tips on things to do, restaurants and hotels.

Located in Minato, Tokyo, Toranomon is a central district packed with a plethora of restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and much more. Discover it all with our guide.

Toranomon Overview

Toranomon translates from Japanese as “Tigers Gate” – a reminder that the district was once the site of the Imperial Palace’s south gate. Today, the district, studded with glass skyscrapers and luxury stores, is one of Tokyo’s wealthier. More commercial than residential, it is a good place to feel the pulse of the city and see how its more privileged occupants fill their time.
